I suspected my house perimeter drainage of being plugged because water was now entering my crawl space during a significant rainfall. I sought several quotes. Most were much less expensive than Ashton. The Ashton rep advised me to be aware that most of firms don’t use very powerful equipment. As such these firms can’t clean as well as Ashton or handle really tough jobs. Not knowing how bad my drainage problem was, I went with another firm who was $1000 cheaper. They could not unplug my drainage pipes, suggesting I had roots in my pipes. They quoted me another $4500 to dig up the side of my house to “properly” repair my problem. If I stayed with them, my total bill would have been $5600. I spoke Ashton again and told them what happened with the other contractor. I did not get an “I told you so.” Brent simply assured me they could do the job without have dig up my property. Also said that they would know very quickly if they could not clear the blockage using hydro flushing. If that was the case, he would significantly lower the cost for the work. I decided to go with Ashton. It turns out my pipes were plugged primarily with mud. During the work, Moises, the Ashton technician, showed me what he was finding using a camera. After he was finished, Moises also showed me the inside of my drainage pipes. I could see that they were now clean and able to function properly. I made a poor choice going with the cheaper quote. That first contractor was wrong and that cost me $1100 for useless work plus they wanted another $4500 for a total of $5600. Ashton costs me $2500. The cheaper quote turned out to be the much more expensive job. I was very pleased with Ashton’s and recommend them to anyone looked to address a house perimeter drainage issue.
We live in a large heritage home, with a 40+ year old boiler for a radiant heating system. The boiler was not working, and we were informed by another heating company that it could not be repaired because parts are very difficult to source, and that the boiler needed to be replaced. We were informed that the cost to do so would be in the tens of thousands of dollars. I asked Ashton to come over and give us a quote for new boiler. Mo from Ashton initially came, and indicated that we should bring over Klaus who has more experience with older boilers. Klaus came over a short time later, and after inspecting the boiler for himself, said that it was perfectly fine and could be easily fixed. When I asked whether parts would be difficult to source, he said all it needed was a new valve which he had sitting in his truck. He then fixed it in less than an hour after arriving. So all in all, Ashton (and Mo and Klaus in particular) saved us tens of thousands of dollars doing a simple fix that others had told us was not possible. It’s rare to find that kind of diligence and honesty these days, and we would recommend Mo and Klaus without any hesitation to any of our family and friends.
Called Ashton Service to come in to do annual furnace maintenance and also move a variable fan switch for our high efficiency furnace. Jerome was great. He checked out everything and recommended a part that we would need to replace sooner than later and which we got done right away for peace of mind. He also figured out what was wrong with our furnace sounding like it would start, make all the appropriate noises like it would start and then not start. As it turned out it was a dirty ignition switch sensor that others couldn't figure out! We highly recommend Ashton and their techs.
Jason came to scope out the problem with our shower and reviewed the condition of our sump and drain tiles. He arranged for two Ashton team members to deal with both issues that were handled professionally and completely. I have been using Ashton for a variety of services over the last few years and have been very happy with everything that has been done for us.
Jerome from Ashton Plumbing, Heating & Air Conditioning gave me a 30-minute heads-up before he arrived, which was very helpful. He came to figure out why our furnace had apparently died. He discovered there was no electrical power getting to it and tracked the problem down MY mistake in unwittingly hitting a switch in the dark corners of our basement! Oops! He was very generous about it. He provided information on possibly replacing our system with a heat pump that will both heat and cool the house. I would definitely recommend Ashton and Jerome.
